Oh What a Beautiful Day

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

It was back to regular activities and the camp was in full swing. The campers were happy and the general vibe on campus was enthusiastic.

Powerhouse Studios came by and gave our campers a Wild’N’Wacky Challenge for evening activity. Campers & counselors got “Pied” in the face, were covered in sludge and everyone had a fantastic time.

The Middy boys slept up at Chenny Village. They told stories and ate s’mores around the campfire. What could be better than that?

We are all looking forward to CARNIVAL tomorrow at CAW!!

Stay tuned…

Trip Day… It was off to the State Park

Monday, July 13th, 2009

After the past 2 ½ days of intense Olympic games and competition, it was off to the State Park for some chilling out time. The weather was beautiful and the kids loved hanging out in the sun, swimming in the lake, playing frisbee and tossing the ball around. As the sun was setting, and the day was coming to a close, it was time for a BBQ dinner.

The Juniors came back a bit earlier than the rest of camp and were treated to a movie . They all brought their sleeping bags and pillows and camped out on the Rec Hall floor watching High School Musical 3. They loved every minute of it.

The big kids all came back and there was a relaxed atmosphere on camp. They had a terrific day in the sun. It was perfect summer day at Camp CHEN-A-WANDA These kinds of days, we will always remember.

Can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring.

Red Spain Wins Olympics!

Monday, July 13th, 2009

The last day of Olympics was amazing. The morning was spent playing more games and everyone was gearing up for APACHE RELAY in the afternoon. The entire camp ran Apache and it was close, but White England pulled it off in a photo finish, winning by only 34 seconds..

The evening ended with the tradition of Olympic Sing. The teams presented their plaques and banners followed by their three songs: cheer, march and the alma mater. Again it was too close to call, they all were phenomenal.

The suspense was intense but ultimately Red Spain pulled it off. Olympics 2009 was a huge success. See the final scores: Olympics 2009 Final Scores

Until tomorrow…

The Olympic Spirit Has Hit C-A-W

Saturday, July 11th, 2009

We began our day with painted faces, sprayed painted hair, chants, cheers and Olympic rivalry. All the teams ate a big healthy breakfast as they fueled up for the day’s battle. There were games happening all over camp from our junior girls playing steal the bacon to the super boys playing in a competitive hockey game. The campers were fierce with passion and it showed.

We ended the evening with Contest Night, a variety of games and relay races in the Rec Hall. The spirit is high and we are all LOVING Olympics.

Until tomorrow..

We faked em’ out once… then twice… then it happened. OLYMPICS IS HERE!!!

We had the #1 National Double Dutch Team dazzle the campers with an awesome show. They performed acrobatic moves with hip hop sizzle, all with 2 jump ropes. They got the campers involved in the action.

After the show it was down to business. The Olympic banner was presented and the teams and their Captains announced.
• GOLD AUSTRALIA
• RED SPAIN
• WHITE ENGLAND

The first competition was Tugs of War. Check out the soon to be posted pictures from this phenomenal event.

We ended the day with Nancy Tucker performing our favorite songs as we all danced and sang along.

Our Camp Rocked Today

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Camp Rock Star Julius C came to Chen-A-Wanda and rocked the house. The group played back up as the campers sang front and center. Each division picked a song, rehearsed it in the day and then performed it at the evening activity. It was our own rock concert live in the Rec Hall. They performed songs from Miley to Queen. The campers were dancing and singing along to the rockin’ show. All the campers felt like real rock stars today.

Our Head Staff got in the groove and performed twist and shout. The campers sang along as they watched their Head Staff rock out!

It was a great day at Chen-A-Wanda. We were all stars for a day!!

Coming soon on video, don’t miss it.
